Glossary:
a.)Abutment – A portion of an implant above the neck, used to provide support for a fixed, semi- fixed or removable dental prosthesis.
b.)Attachment – A mechanical device used for the fixation, retention and stabilization of a dental prosthesis.
c.)Endodontic: Endosteal Implant – A threaded pin implant which extends through the root canal of a tooth into the periapical bone to stabilize a mobile tooth.
d.)Implant Denture – A denture which will receive its stability and retention from a dental implant.
e.)Implant Dentistry (syn: Dental Implantology) Oral Implantology – Area of dentistry concerned with the diagnosis, design and insertion of implant devices and restorations which provides adequate function, comfort and esthetic’s for the edentulous or partially edentulous patient.
